About us

We believe Indian small businesses deserve better tools.

Tally was built for a different India. We're building for the one that runs on UPI, types in Hinglish, and closes deals on WhatsApp at 11pm.

The kirana origin story.

Our co-founder Ankit grew up in a kirana store in Lucknow. His mother kept the books — by hand, in a 200-page bahi-khata, every evening after closing. In 2014 they moved to Tally. By 2019 they were back to the bahi-khata, because Tally needed a desktop, a license, a CA visit, and three Hindi-to-English translations to record a sale.

That gap — between what a small Indian business can actually use, and what the global accounting world thinks it should use — has been the subject of every conversation MyKharch has had with a customer since.

We started in 2023 with a single rule: if a kirana owner can't onboard in five minutes on a ₹10,000 phone, we haven't built it yet. Three years and 12,400 businesses later, we still measure ourselves against that rule. Some days we pass; some days we don't.

What we believe.

Six principles. We've turned down feature requests, customers, and one investor over them.

PRINCIPLE 01

Hindi is a first-class language.

Not a translation layer slapped on top of English. Voice entry, error messages, support — all native, all fluent. Same for Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi.

PRINCIPLE 02

Mobile is the main app.

Not the "companion app." 84% of our customers do most of their work on their phone. Web is for power users and CAs. We design mobile-first and it shows.

PRINCIPLE 03

The CA is your ally.

Free CA seats, Tally-compatible exports, and read-only audit access. We don't replace your CA — we make their job 4 hours instead of 40.

PRINCIPLE 04

Pricing is in rupees.

And it covers the whole product. No per-feature add-ons, no surprise upcharges, no "starting at $9" bait. The yearly plan is ₹5,988 — a number an Indian SMB can sign off on.

PRINCIPLE 05

Your data stays in India.

Both copies. Mumbai primary, Hyderabad backup. We don't ship a byte abroad. And we never train AI on your books — that's a hard line, written into the contract.

PRINCIPLE 06

Compliance is our problem.

GST 2.0, e-invoicing thresholds, e-way bill changes, TDS rate tweaks — when the council notifies, the clock starts. We deploy within 24 hours, and we walk affected customers through the migration.

The team.

28 people across Bengaluru, Lucknow and Pune. Half engineering, a quarter design & product, the rest in support & sales — all who speak at least two Indian languages.

A short history.

Three years. Twelve thousand businesses. A few late nights.

Jan 2023

Two founders, one whiteboard.

Ankit and Priya quit Razorpay and Zerodha to build the accounting tool they wished their families had used.

Aug 2023

First 100 kirana stores.

Manual onboarding, daily WhatsApp support, hand-built GST filing. The product wasn't ready, but we were learning.

Apr 2024

₹14cr seed round.

Led by Blume Ventures, with Together Fund and a roomful of angel founders. Used to build the mobile app and Hindi voice entry.

Nov 2024

1,000 paying customers.

The Hindi voice entry shipped, and word-of-mouth in tier-2 cities took off. We hit 1,000 paid in two months.

Jul 2025

SOC 2, ISO 27001.

Audited and certified — at 12 people. We wanted enterprise security from day one, not later.

Mar 2026

12,400 businesses, profitable.

EBITDA-positive. Funded the next 18 months from cash flow. No plans for a Series A unless we need it.
